Suspected fraudulent land entries were investigated by Special Agents of the U.S. General Land Office (GLO). The Special Agents completed this record of their investigations. Each report includes the name and address of the investigated party, a description of the tract, the kind of entry, number of entry, date of final proof, date of final certificate, number of final certificate, date of patent, date of office instructions, date of examination, date of report, number of report, date of hearing, date of suit, and remarks. Remarks provide a further explanation of the investigation such as "relieved from suspicion" or "hold for cancellation." These records demonstrate the complexities of attempting to claim public lands.
